I wrecked my Legend car at Dominion Raceway, and I did it to myself. No excuses. Here's the walk back to the pits, what the right front looks like now, how I check whether a race car is actually totaled or just ugly, and why I'm already ordering parts.
51 Legend Cars, 18 Bandoleros, and a stadium full of people showing up for the Busch family. I couldn't race this one, so I walked the pits all day at Bowman Gray — Samantha's speech, Kyle's M&M's car, the merch line, and Preston Wrisley taking the win. We race on.
Everybody films the racing. Nobody films the week before it. I'm back in my 90-degree Greensboro warehouse with no AC, prepping the #63 Legend Car for Charlotte — rebuilding a car dolly, hammering a bent bumper, chasing a dead transponder, and de-glazing brake pads I'm still not sure I'm doing right.
I didn't sleep, it was 90 degrees, and I came in near the back — but for the first time my Legend Car finally felt fast. Here's the trail braking breakthrough that changed my whole race at the Cook Out Summer Shootout.
Round 2 of the Cook Out Summer Shootout at Charlotte was about getting better, not getting positions. My corner entry is still fighting me, I finally made it clean through Turn 1, and I spent half a lap racing a buddy stuck in second gear. Come ride along.
I went back to Dillon Motor Speedway for another Legend Car race weekend, and yeah… I finished dead last. But I had a blast, learned a ton, and figured out a lot of stuff on my own this time around.
I loaded up my Legend Car and headed to Dillon Motor Speedway in South Carolina — and ended up on the same track as NASCAR legend Kyle Busch. First time at the track, a huge wreck at the start, a spin in Turn 3, and one weekend I'll never forget.
