Purchasing the company in 1947, he \nquickly followed up by buying Lagonda, moving both firms into adjacent \npremises at Feltham, thus forming Aston Martin Lagonda.\nUsing the pre-war Atom as a basis, Aston Martin's first post-war car was \nthe 2-Litre Sports. It was the company's next offering, however, that \nreally set the ball rolling. For the DB2, Claude Hill's chassis was \nmated to Lagonda's 2.6-litre twin-cam six designed by W O Bentley. This \nstunning Frank Feeley-styled car was the first of a long line of Aston \nMartin supercars.\nThis book opens with a history of Aston Martin leading up to David \nBrown's purchase of the company.Then comes a highly detailed analysis of \nthe 2-Litre Sports (retrospectively known as the DB1), covering every \naspect of the chassis, running gear, engine and transmission. This sets \nthe scene for the chapters that follow, on the DB2, DB2\/4, the DB2\/4 \nMark II and III and the sports racers DB3 and DB3S. Each of these \nreceives comprehensive treatment, including information on differences \nfrom previous models, production changes, competition history, \nperformance and road manners.\nFor owners, present and prospective there is a also a chapter devoted to \nthe practicalities of owning and using these cars today, including \nadvice on common problems, maintenance and preservation.\nOutstanding examples of all models have been specially photographed in \ngreat detail for this book and are featured in some 110 colour shots. \nThere are also around 140 black-and-white photographs drawn from the \narchives as well as material from Aston Martin sales and publicity \nmaterial.\nModels covered: DB1 1948-50, DB2 1950-53, DB2\/4 1953-55, DB2\/4 MkII \n1955-57, DB2\/4 MkIII 1957-59, plus Competition models DB3 1951-53 and \nDB3S 1953-56","brand":"Herridge \u0026 Sons Ltd.","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":31912090206279,"sku":"B03127","price":59.98,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0057\/9813\/3831\/files\/5cea8940-4724-4a18-bcbf-463800af7154_281fa.jpg?v=1772271223","url":"https:\/\/www.midlifeclassiccars.com\/bs\/products\/aston-martin-db2-db2-4-db3-in-detail-1950-59","provider":"MidlifeClassicCars.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
