Author: David Newhardt

Author Bio: Automotive historian, photographer, and author David Newhardt has spent more than 30 years documenting the people, vehicles, and stories that have shaped automotive history. Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Newhardt studied Professional Photography at Southern Illinois University before serving eight years in the United States Navy aboard nuclear submarines. Following his military service, Newhardt built a successful career in automotive journalism and photography. He served as a staff photographer and features editor for Motor Trend magazine before becoming one of the automotive industry's most respected freelance photographers and writers. Over the course of his career, Newhardt has authored numerous books covering muscle cars, classic automobiles, racing, and automotive history. In addition to his writing, his photography has appeared in more than 50 books and magazines, making him one of the most widely published automotive photographers in the field. Today, Newhardt serves as the chief photographer for Mecum Auctions, where he photographs many of the world's most significant collector vehicles. He resides in the Nashville, Tennessee area and continues to write and photograph automotive subjects for enthusiasts around the globe. David Newhardt is also the author of Oldsmobile W-Powered Muscle Cars and many other respected automotive history and performance titles.
