This was Rover's first new MG since the factory closed. The sleek styling also introduced MG's first mid-engined car. It came with two engines, the 1.8 K-series and the higher-powered version with variable valve timing. Sales took off and it also inspired a racing series. Road test, specifications, advice on "buying used" plus long-term reports trace the progress of the MGF from it's 1995 introduction. The 1.8i, VVC and Cheetah are compared against a Lotus, Elise, Mazda MX-5, a Caterham Seven and a BMW Z3.
