The Falcon was introduced as a compact line to
combat European imports. Originally it depended on simple styling and
engineering with an unexciting engine. The Futura was introduced as sporty
model to compete with the Chevy Corvair Monza and a 260 V8 gave it the
power. It was not until 1965 was it given the 289 V8. Over the years it
grew in size and despite changes and the final cars were built in 1970.
